PDF is a small Portuguese company with a dynamic and innovative approach to their national heritage. Their objective is to reveal some of their hidden treasures, adding to them new life and value. Their journey starts in the small town of Manteigas, in the mountainous region of Serra da Estrela in central Portugal.  From that region they seek to draw on:

. The human potential – by giving employment to the people living in the area (many of whom lost their jobs with the closure of many factories), which have always been the predominant industry in this region.

. The potential in resources – by making use of the diversity of plants that are unique to that region.

. Local knowledge – as the only high altitude mountain range in Portugal, Serra da Estrela has many unique features, including its climate and biodiversity.  Local knowledge mirrors this uniqueness, creating distinctive solutions to a rare environment.  The aim is to maintain this knowledge and wisdom.

With this in mind, PDF have developed a line of gourmet food products.  For that, they have used the herbs, fruits and cuisine of Serra da Serra. They created products that carry the timeless flavor of the mountains by combining ingredients in surprising recipes, presenting them in equally distinctive packaging .
