Basil (Manjericão)
It has a hot and spicy flavour; the basil tea is believed to provide so many health-giving benefits that the plant is commonly called “Tulsi” which translates from Sanskrit to mean “incomparable one.” Tulsi is caffeine free like other herbal infusions and its has been used as a treatment for gastric, hepatic, respiratory and inflammatory disorders as well as a remedy for headache, fever, anxiety, convulsions, nausea and hypertension.
About Cantinho das Aromáticas
Born in 2002 “Cantinho das Aromáticas” is one of the few organic farms in all of Western Europe which are located in the urban space. It has the largest plantation of aromatic and medicinal plants in the country and its production is allocated to pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries, with more than 150 different species and varieties of herbs.
The farm is filled with ancient history since it possesses an historic XIVth century farmhouse – Quinta do Paço – where it is believed that D. Pedro and D. Inês de Castro have lived for two years. It is also said that their daughter D. Beatriz was born there.
