The Delicatessen is one year old!
This November marks a special month for us: It’s been one year since we’ve opened up the Deli’s door for the first time, (on the 2nd of November to be more precise), and what a year it’s been! To mark this memorable year, we’re hosting a very, very special edition of the Portuguese Conspiracy Supper Club, right here at the Deli!
Showcasing the richness, diversity and specificity of Portuguese Culture, Food and wine, has been one of the main driving force of our endeavours, and to commemorate this we’re honoured to have Mateus Nicolau de Almeida, here on the 20th of November sharing dinner with us, and presenting his extraordinary Muxagat wines.
Muxagat – The Wines of Mateus Nicolau de Almeida
Mateus is one of our favourite Portuguese Winemakers: His intricate relation to the land (in the Douro Superior), and approach to wine, is a living proof, that genius, and extraordinary winemaking can indeed go hand-in-hand with informality, humbleness, and a very laid-back but yet very authentic approach to wine.
A true example of the modern “Vigneron” Mateus works close to, and with the land, always informed by a wide scope of experiences, external influences and information that ultimately help him to discover it’s own terroir specifics, and how to bring the land’s “voice” to the wine. Muxagat’s wines taste of where they came from, and on the 20th of November you’ve got an unique chance of tasting all of them!
Mateus’ wines invoke the soul and core of the Douro superior’s Xist soils, with wonderful freshness and energy: We will be accompanying these with some extraordinary Portuguese “Petiscos” and main courses:
