Region / Vineyards
The Vinho Verde region is located in the north-western corner of Portugal. The name means ‘green wine’ in Portuguese, the name given is not because of its colour, which is pale and watery, but because the grapes are harvested unripe and hence green. The resulting wines are low in alcohol, light-bodied and with a very refreshing acidity. Quinta das Arcas is a family company with 3 vineyards in the south west part of the region totalizing more than 120ha of the best Portuguese grape varieties perfectly adapted to
this region unique characteristics. The soils of schist and granite give the wines an interesting minerality and the Atlantic breezes have also an important role on the grape development. The wines produced by Quinta das Arcas are the sublime result of these variables and the most recent winemaking technology. In our vineyards is implemented the Integrated Pest Management practice, allowing the minimum use of chemical products possible.
